He is widely recognised and has successfully performed over 14,000 open-heart surgeries and more than 500 robotic surgeries.
His expertise lies in minimally invasive cardiac surgery, robotic surgery, beating heart coronary artery bypass, aortic surgery, etc.
He has also chaired scientific sessions at national and international conferences held in the USA, UK, China, Italy, Japan, France and Far East Countries.
He has conducted live cases at his workshops held in Thailand, Bangladesh and Nepal.
Dr. Mishra completed his master's in Surgery, MBBS, and MS in general Surgery from the prestigious S. S Medical College, Rewa, MP, in 1981 and 1984, respectively.
Following this, he did his PhD in Cardio Thoracic & Vascular Surgery from Bakulev Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, Moscow, Russia, in 1991.
He completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular Surgery from Thoracic Centre, University Hospital Uppsala, Sweden. He has done training in the following:

Dr. Mishra is exclusive to the Board of Directors of the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery. He is the 4th Asian to be honoured and Second Indian to hold this distinction.
He has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and the Honoris Causa Doctorate (Doctor of Science) conferred by the Governor of Madhya Pradesh and the Chancellor of Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya.
He is the Founder Member of the Indian College of Cardiology and a Fellow Member of the Association of Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgeons of India.
Dr. Mishra is also the founder of the Payasuni Heart Valve Foundation, which promotes the prevention and treatment of rheumatic heart diseases.
In addition to his clinical work, he has a keen interest in training, education, and research and has been invited as a guest lecturer worldwide.
